On the 9th of September 2023, a momentous event unfolded at the auditorium of the Aquinas Institute of Higher Education, marking the inauguration ceremony of the Diploma in Childcare, Protection, and Reintegration. This innovative initiative is a collaborative effort by CCCSL combining with the University of Colombo and the Aquinas Institute of Higher Education.
The distinguished guest list included six Provincials of Congregations associated with CCCSL, the National Commissioner of Probation and Child Care Services, the Chairman of the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA), Reverend Father Sylvester (Rev. Fr. Rectory), and the Head of the Department, Reverend Father Chinthaka. Additionally, Mr. Hakeem, Deputy of the Center for the Study of Human Rights (CSHR) from the University of Colombo, added academic prestige to the gathering.
The organizing committee, led by Rev. Sr. Shamindani Fernando, the Country Coordinator, and Mr. Morrid Perera, the Manager, worked to ensure the success of this significant event. The committee, composed of dedicated members from CCCSL, played a pivotal role in orchestrating a seamless inauguration ceremony.
A notable highlight of the ceremony was the participation of 70 sisters from five different congregations. Their presence underscored the commitment of religious communities to the cause of childcare, protection, and reintegration. These dedicated participants demonstrated their enthusiasm for the program.
As the ceremony unfolded, it became evident that this diploma program holds great promise in addressing critical issues related to childcare and protection. The collaboration between the University of Colombo and the Aquinas Institute of Higher Education led by CCCSL not only signifies a synergy of academic excellence but also symbolizes a responsibility of CCCSL toward building a society that prioritizes the welfare and well-being of its most vulnerable members.
