Catholic Care for Children in Kenya

Catholic Care for Children in Kenya is a project of the Association of Sisterhoods of Kenya. The association represents 164 religious institutes with 6,000 Sisters. About 140 care locations and programs are part of the Catholic Care for Children project in Kenya which began in 2019. The project seeks to safeguard and promote quality care for vulnerable children by adopting care reforms in family- and community-based care in line with social teachings of the Catholic Church.

In Kenya, the number of Charitable Children’s Institutions (CCIs), commonly referred to as children’s homes, has been on rise in recent years. Most children have been separated from their parents due to death, poverty, natural disasters, and disintegration of families.
